Free 100 CV Templates (Curriculum Vitae) + 25 Page Writing Guide

June 1, 2010 8 comments

A well presented CV is both concise and comprehensive and although perhaps not studied in detail on first receipt will become essential when arriving at the interview stage. Most potential employers are poor interviewers and will use a good CV to extract specific questions relating to your previous employment. This can enhance the two-way flow of information in that the CV provides a specific point of information for discussion and so prevents any dry up of conversation. You and the employer are then left with an impression of that interview went well.

More importantly if the reader has a large number of applicants to read a well designed and presented CV will make the right impression and leave him feeling he would like to hear more at an interview.

A CV allows you to present yourself in the best possible light. It is a great opportunity for you to relate your skills and experiences to those required by each particular employer.

Because no two jobs or organisations are exactly the same, there is no such thing as a standard CV. Each time you apply for a job its up to you to identify the skills required.

For example: A bar job may require good teamwork skills and excellent verbal communication skills. Where as A publishers may require good written communication skills and commercial awareness

Of course there are plenty of CV Writing services available on the net; the problem is though… there are that many to choose from, which one can you trust?
Many recruitment companies believe a top of the range CV will cost you in excess of 300 we think thats somewhat extreme Even if you decide to use a professional CV Writing Service, its a useful exercise to complete one of your own; the preparation will be invaluable once that all important interview comes round.

These are very nice looking CV’s i paid for, hope this helps you get your job!

1. Introduction to Social Engineering

Before I get into the World of Social Engineering, please keep in mind that this guide was made for, but not limited to, beginners. So with that in mind, let’s get this show on the road! So what exactly is social engineering? I’m sure this question has been asked a million times, you’re probably even asking yourself this now! To cut around the BS and throw away the leftovers, social engineering is the act of manipulating people into revealing information or tricking the victim to performing actions that are beneficial to the user. That’s it! To put it in simpler terms; ever trick someone into doing something dumb, or told a lie to get someone to tell you something, or even get your friend to lie for you to get “something” out of it? That’s social engineering my friends! It’s that simple, and anyone can do it, even the weird kid in your class that’s deaf that tries to talk, but can’t, but still tries anyway! Although social engineering is relatively easy to do, and can be used anywhere at any time, the very world of it is complex, there is no “one-way” to doing things. Your options are endless, so make use of it!

2. Examples of Social Engineering

Anonymous Wrote:A True Story

One morning a few years back, a group of strangers walked into a large shipping firm and walked out with access to the firm’s entire corporate network. How did they do it? By obtaining small amounts of access, bit by bit, from a number of different employees in that firm. First, they did research about the company for two days before even attempting to set foot on the premises. For example, they learned key employees’ names by calling HR. Next, they pretended to lose their key to the front door, and a man let them in. Then they “lost” their identity badges when entering the third floor secured area, smiled, and a friendly employee opened the door for them.

The strangers knew the CFO was out of town, so they were able to enter his office and obtain financial data off his unlocked computer. They dug through the corporate trash, finding all kinds of useful documents. They asked a janitor for a garbage pail in which to place their contents and carried all of this data out of the building in their hands. The strangers had studied the CFO’s voice, so they were able to phone, pretending to be the CFO, in a rush, desperately in need of his network password. From there, they used regular technical hacking tools to gain super-user access into the system.

In this case, the strangers were network consultants performing a security audit for the CFO without any other employees’ knowledge. They were never given any privileged information from the CFO but were able to obtain all the access they wanted through social engineering.

Anonymous Wrote:Retail Paging Systems

Wal-Mart store phones have clearly marked buttons for the paging system. Wal-Mart is the exception, not the rule. So how do you get on the paging system to have a little fun when you’re bored out of your mind shopping with your girlfriend? Social engineering, my whipped friend. Find a phone and dial an extension, preferably the store op. The key here is to become a harried employee, saying something similar to…”This is Bill in shoes. What’s the paging extension?” More often than not, you’ll get the extension without another word. Now, get some by saying something sweet over the intercom.

Anonymous Wrote:Hotels

Hotels hold such promise. Some hotels have voice mail for each room, guests receiving a PIN when they check in. Hotels also have “guest” phones; phones outside of rooms that connect only to rooms or the front desk. Pick up a guest phone, make like a friendly guest and say, “I forgot my PIN. Could I get it again? Room XXX.” Knowing the registered name of the target room helps, for the Hotel and Restaurant Management Degree Program graduate may ask for it.

3. Methods of Social Engineering

Courtesy of Wikipedia
Some Methods of Social Engineering:

* Phishing – is a technique often used to obtain private information. Typically, the user sends an e-mail that appears to come from a legitimate business requesting “verification” of information and warning of some consequence if it is not provided. The e-mail usually contains a link to a web page that seems legit and has a form requesting everything from a home address to an ATM card’s PIN.

* IVR or phone phishing – also known as “vishing”; this technique uses an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system to recreate a legit sounding copy of a bank or other institution’s IVR system. The victim is prompted to call in to the “bank” via a phone number provided in order to “verify” information.

* Baiting – Baiting is like the real-world Trojan Horse that uses physical media and relies on the curiosity or greed of the victim. In this attack, the attacker leaves a malware infected floppy disc, CD ROM, or USB flash drive in a location sure to be found, gives it a legitimate looking and curiosity-piquing label, and simply waits for the victim to use the device.

* Quid pro quo – An attacker calls random numbers at a company claiming to be calling back from technical support. Eventually they will hit someone with a legitimate problem, grateful that someone is calling back to help them. The attacker will “help” solve the problem and in the process have the user type commands that give the attacker access or launch malware.

4. Advantage of Social Engineering

So to soak up what you’ve learned so far, which was, an introduction to social engineering and some examples on the very subject itself (SE). On to the very question that people want to hear and know. What can I GAIN from using social engineering? Anything! Like I said before, and not afraid to hesitate to say again, your options are endless when using social engineering! It all depends on your goal and how you approach it, is the defining factor of your outcome. Now with that said, don’t go off thinking that you can take over the World in a matter of a few days, not going to happen. But what you can do is practice using social engineering, little by little, step by step; learn how to build your ground and the environment around it. So yes, think outside the box and learn to open new doors! Keep in mind that connections and relationships is everything in being a social engineer, without it, what can you build from nothing? Nothing! That’s when social engineering comes in place, learn to make new friends, take the time to ask questions, and most importantly, learn your target! Like one once said, “My greatest enemy is also my best friend.” You can achieve anything with the right mindset!

5. Are You a Social Engineer?

So are you a social engineer? YES! You’re a social engineer even without knowing it! Believe it or not, more than 50% of people living on this Earth subconsciously don’t know what they’re capable of! That’s a scary thought, that’s a lot of potential lost! But with the right direction and approach to your goal, anything is possible! Anything. Don’t let your options deteriorate due to discouragement and with the wrong mindset. The decision is yours to let it happen or not!

6. Final Thoughts

You must feel good up to this point! I mean, not only did you catch a glimpse of the World of Social Engineering, but you can take this bit of info with you and apply it to whatever you are trying to achieve. One of the best features of social engineering is that it can’t be subjugated to one subject, so it can basically be used on virtually anything! I personally recommend using social engineering to create a positive effect, rather than a negative one. Remember, don’t get ahead of yourself and overdo it, or else you’ll end up in these happy hands:

how to bypass anti-virus???

this topic posted by powerplans associate partners

Well making a trojan is very easy now-a-days by using tools such as lostdoor, poisonivy, etc. But the real challenge is to pass the trojan a system’s antivirus. Here’s a post on the same. Here we used a virtual application creator, Xenocode, which is famous for creating portable applications. It kinda encrypts our trojan and further if we bind our trojan with another exe, it is bound to be executed by the victim. I’ll surely post on binding in my next post.
The encrypted trojan does not match with the virus definitions in the antivirus and hence is rendered undetected.
Also I would like to tell you that we are working on making our own video tutorials. We have already downloaded Camtasia Studio for that purpose.. So very soon we’ll be posting video tutes narrated in by me. I’ll surely mail you the link as soon as we upload any such tut.
The video tutorial for how to use this tool is available here
Make Trojan Fully Undetectable (FUD) using Xenocode
A few weeks before, we had posted on how you can make your trojan using LostDoor. But the problem with the so formed trojan is it being detected by almost all AV softwares. We know that after learning to make your own trojan, the next thing you must’ve exhausted your bandwidth searching for is: “How to make a Trojan undetectable?” Well here is the answer.
First of all you’ll have to download Xenocode (Never heard of it? Google it. This may help you..http://www.xenocode.com/Technology/)

Xenocode is a set of application virtualization and portable application creation technologies developed by Code Systems Corporation. Applications are packed into single executable files that can be executed instantly on any Windows desktop (so called “portable apps”). The technology therefore emulates only the operation system features that are necessary for the application to run. Applications can be deployed using existing infrastructure, software deployment tools, the web or USB keys. The virtualized application runs independently from other software that is installed on the host PC so there are no conflicts between different versions or DLL files.
Well, reading the above introduction must’ve got you acquainted you with xenocode application. You might be wondering, how this application will help you in making your Trojan undetectable.
Xenocode creates a virtual operating system for processing the files you have virtualized and hence it completely overwrites your code. As you may know, AV softwares use virus signatures to identify viruses. There are ways in which you can make a trojan undetectable by modifying the Hex code, but it is very tedious. Using xenocode alleviates the pain to a negligible level. The only pain you will have is to grab a full version of the application. Keep in mind that trial version xenocode does not create virtual applications. When you will click on the build button, it will prompt you to purchase license. We hope you understand what we mean to say implicitly.
After you download xenocode, give your trojan as the input. Now click on the build button and then specify the location where the output file must be saved. The so formed file is your undetecable Trojan. You can try scanning it with your local AV. Or if you wanna see how far you’ve gone, upload the file on http://scanner.novirusthanks.org/. It will provide you results after scannig your file with 20 different AV. Our score for this test was 0 outa 20. No AV detected it and the file still works fine.

Look Out For 2010

Future Releases

2010 has a lot of surprises in store for us, gadget-wise. Some are expected other..

1. Google Nexus One:

The Nexus One has been Google’s worst kept secret after their employees twittered away the details of the phone when it was given away to a select few. The phone is unlocked and heralds Google’s entry into the mobile phone market. The phone is 3G equipped with HSDPA/HSUPA support and WiFi. The phone comes with a 3.7 inch OLED touch screen and runs the soon-to-be-released Android 2.1 . It does not support multi-touch out of the box like other Android phones and Google has fully customized the Android OS for the Nexus One. It also comes with a 5 Megapixel camera with support for geo-tagging. The phone is also equipped with two mics- one in the front and one in the rear. The one in the front is for the user’s voice and the one in the rear is to cancel out the background noise. The phone will be sold unlocked and has an expected release date in the 5th of January.

2. Apple iPhone 4G:

Apple’s new iPhone is rumoured to launch in summer 2010 with a host of hardware and software improvements. The phone is reported to have a 5 Megapixel camera with AF, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor under clocked to 800MHz and a front facing camera for video conferencing. The phone may operate on the Verizon’s 4G LTE network in the US, which means India will not see the 4G soon. But with Apple’s uber-secretive policies, we will only know more about the phone a few weeks from the launch date.

3. Project Natal:

Project Natal is the internal name for Microsoft’s new Xbox system where the gamers would use their hands, gestures and spoken words to play instead of using the controller. Think of it like a controller-less Wii, just with better games. The system was launched in 2009 and is expected to ship out as an add-on to the existing XBox 360s. The system consists of a camera, depth sensor and a mic. The inputs taken from these sources control the game play. The new controller is capable of tracking four persons at 48 points for movement and can identify individual fingers. This makes Microsoft’s Xbox 360 a viable contender of the Play Station since Sony introduced the EyeToy

4. Google Chrome OS:

The Chrome OS is Google’s maiden attempt at developing an Operating System primarily intended for cloud computing. While this is not Google’s first attempt at developing an OS [they developed the Android OS for mobile phones], this is the first serious attempt any developer has made towards an OS built exclusively for cloud computing. In cloud computing, the data and the applications are not stored on your hard drive. They are stored on specialized servers called the “Cloud”. While the Chrome OS is based off Linux and will run on Google recommended and approved hardware, it should be hacked to support other hardware soon. The Chrome OS is designed to run on netbooks and other portable computing devices. Google has promised a sub-10 second startup time and this should blow the other netbook OS’es out of the water.

5. Solid State Drives:

Solid State Drives have been available for industrial and military consumption since the mid 90s but the high cost/GB has kept it from being adopted by the general public. The SDD offer better performance, are more efficient and are more silent compared to the Hard Drives [HDDs] that the modern computers have. In a couple of years, SSDs will be standard equipment for anyone buying a desktop or a laptop. Most of the modern Operating Systems like Windows 7 and some Linux distros have support for SSD commands like the TRIM function. By the Fall of 2009, the SSDs have almost reached the $2/GB barrier in the international markets. While the SSDs are yet to take off in India, they will when the market reaches maturity in the US and Europe.

how to make torrent fast ( Maximum Speed )

December 16, 2009 Leave a comment

Torrent Client Configuration

In order to apply these tips you need to know your maximum

Up- and download speed. You can test your bandwidth over

Here (stop all download activity while testing). Also make

Sure that you applied the tips provided in our previous posts.

Note that there’s a huge difference between kb/s

(kilobits/second) and kB/s (kilobytes/second).

To be Precise,

KB/s = kb/s divided by 8. In this tutorial we use

KB/s (like most torrent clients do). This means that you

Might need to calculate your max speed in kB/s yourself if

The speed test only gives you the results in kb\s (so divide by

8 then).

Settings 1-4 can be found in the options, settings or

Preference tab of most torrent clients.

1. Maximum upload speed

Probably the most important setting there is. Your

Connection is (sort of) like a pipeline, if you use you

Maximum upload speed there’s not enough space left for the

Files you are downloading. So you have to cap your upload

Speed. Use the following formula to determine your optimal

Upload speed…

80% of your maximum uploads speed

So, if your maximum uploads speed is 40 kB/s, the optimal

Upload rate is 32kB/s

But keep seeding!

2. Maximum download speed

Although setting your maximum download speed to

Unlimited may sound interesting, in reality it will only hurt

Your connection. If you still want to be able to browse

Properly, set your maximum download speed to:

95% of your maximum downloads speed

So if your maximum download speed is 400 kB/s, the

Optimal download speed is 380kB/s

1. Maximum connected peers per torrent

Yet another setting that you don’t want to max out.

I experimented quite a lot with the max connected peers

Settings and came to the conclusion that both high and low

Number hurt the download speed of a torrent. The following

Setting worked best for me.

Upload speed * 1.3

So, if your maximums upload speed is 40 kB/s, the optimal

Amount of connected peers per torrent is

40 * 1.3 = 52

I didn’t notice a difference for fast or slow connections here.

4. Maximum upload slots

1 + (upload speed / 6)

So, if your maximums upload speed is 30 kB/s, the optimal

Number of upload slots is

1 + (30 / 6) = 6

5. More tips

Seed

Downloading speeds will be sub-optimal for everyone unless

everyone plays their part and seeds. Private tracker sites are

a great example of how the overall speed of the swarm

increases when everyone is seeding and downloading in

equal measure. So, play your part in seeding and tell others

to as well.

Be connectable

Make sure you’re not “fire walled” by opening up your

incoming ports or by enabling UPnP in your router,

otherwise you’ll be leaving bandwidth on the table.

Select the right torrents.

Your download will be faster if you choose to download a

torrent where there is a good balance of seeds and peers. For

instance, Vuze ranks its search results according to the

number of seeds and peers to make this easier.

Be realistic

Check the swarm average and if you’re already above

Averages, then you just need to be patient. If you’re below

Average, go back and check some of these other things I’ve

Mentioned.
